Fiji Coup Introduces Tagging
FijiCoup.org now introduces tagging. Tagging is a way of gathering related content such as news articles together with the use of keywords that describe those articles. At the bottom of every article on FijiCoup.org you will find a link that allows you to tag the article with your keywords.
To tag an article, just click the "Add Tags" link at the bottom of the article, and then insert the keywords you see fit for the article. The keywords can be just a single word, or a list of words separated with commas.
Tagging allows you to then click on a tag, and see similar articles that have been tagged by other users with the same keywords. It also allows you to get a general understanding of the article by looking at the important keywords that other users have highlighted in their tags.
We just added the tagging feature yesterday and have seen some interesting results already. While tagging a few of the articles ourselves, we've found that yesterday and today the keyword "fiji water" is discussed in a few articles. How "fiji water" is related to the "fiji coup" is interesting. It seems that a few people have only found out about the Fiji Coup because they drink "Fiji Water"!. Now thats just one of the interesting things that tagging will allow you to discover if you use it.
At the moment the tagging is in testing mode, and we will be adding the intended features as time goes on. Some of the notable features will be:
- Allow you to subscribe to a tag or a list of tags and get updates of related articles via email and SMS (TXT msgs)
- Creation of RSS feeds by putting together multiple tags
- Allow you to monitor content that appears related to your tag on your page.
If you have any suggestions for this feature, please email info (at) fijicoup (dot) org.
