Don’t read blogs, says desperate Frank and Leweni

We say – to give credibility to Frank and Leweni’s claim, why haven’t they asked Driti and Ului to give a joint press conference to justify that they still support Frank. Or simply, why hasn’t Driti or Ului stepped forward to speak to the media like they use to do to dispel the split prevalent at FMF. Frank Bainimarama can not deny that the masses support from all walks of life and Fiji Military Forces, is now behind Driti and Ului. He will have to face up to his fate as the coup executionist. W

Blogs continue to break what dictator Frank Bainimarama doesn’t want you to know

It was first predicted on Coup Four and Half, but we knew all along it had to happen. When the full facts about the mismanagement of the Fiji National Provident Fund escaped, Frank would want to pin the blame on someone. Never forget the board was installed as one of the first acts of the coup. The aim was to secure the money so that it would be available for the use of the regime. The biggest scandal is probably the hijacking of the Natadola Project by Felix Anthony. The Auditors could not

Blogs rule as Fiji regime cracks down on media

From AFP   Fijians keeping up with political developments since the media clampdown by Voreqe Bainimarama's military regime this month are turning to a growing band of Internet blogs. The latest political upheaval in the troubled South Pacific nation was triggered by the regime's repeal of the constitution on April 10, accompanied by the sacking of the judiciary and emergency regulations to control free speech. Blogs only uncensored news from Fiji

The blogs are now the only source of uncensored news from Fiji.  The media are now now allowed to report news that is “negative”. And even the blogs are at risk - there is talk that the Commodore has ordered Fijian telcos to cut off Internet access to Fiji. I encourage people to read and promote these blogs. Also I am always happy to do a guest post from any Fijians who don’t want to set their own blog up. Intelligensiya Raw Fiji News Discombobulated Bubu Luvei Viti : Children

Media and blogs respond to Fiji military dictatorship

Chris Merrit and John Stapleton writing in The Australian this morning : THE Australian judges who triggered Fiji's latest political crisis have branded the Pacific nation's president a dictator and warned that any expatriate judges who accept job offers from him could be seen as treasonous. The attack on president Josefa Iloilo was unleashed yesterday after he had sacked the country's judiciary, torn up the constitution and reappointed a prime minister whose regime the judges had d

Fiji political blogs: truth or slander?

Since the 2006 coup, I have tried to chronicle the rapidly changing world of blogs in Fiji as they start up, shut down, climb to great heights, and then fall out of the spotlight. My comments even garnered some unwanted attention from the Human Rights Commission Director who, paradoxically for a human rights officer, seemed to be arguing against freedom of speech. While the interim government
